Fun Fact
The Bucs 3 District medal winners in 2018 tied for their most since 2011.

Where They Open
12/15: at Edison Classic

Circle The Date
1/5: vs RBC  -  The two rivals meet up as part of a Saturday quad at Shore.

With 12 varsity letter winners returning, the Bucs bring back a wealth of experience from last year's team. Couple those returners with new arrivals finally coming up through the growing feeder program, and RBR enters the year with a full room capable of filling out the lineup with experienced depth behind them all.

Down low, the Bucs are led by the junior duo of Tucker Cochrane and Anthony Ciccone. Cochrane advanced to the Regions last season after placing 3rd in District 18, while Ciccone's 21 wins last season is the most among all the returners. They provide a good base to break some new starters in the lineup around, including freshmen Michael Meehan, Ansel Bryan, and Phil Stolfa.

We could see a lot of shuffling around in the middle as Red Bank has four lettermen returning in the 138/145 area in seniors Aidan Butler and Erik Olsen, and juniors Jonathan Ponce and Jermain Diaz. New additions to the lineup could include a pair of sophomores in Carlos Ceja and Luis Santamaria.

There is a lot of experience returning up top as well. Double digit winners Will Dal Pra and Vincent DeLorenzi, both juniors, and senior Nick Principe are all back. Senior heavyweight Justin Gooding also returns, as do Michael Espinoza and Anthony Gaeta, who are both looking to build off the solid experience they got as freshmen. Add in some newcomers knocking on the door, and RBR has some good depth in the upperweights.

There is a lot of excitement around the Red Bank program. From the feeder system starting to produce experienced wrestlers into the high school, to the strong numbers, to the hosting of events like the Buc Classic, the Shore Conference Tournament, the District 20 Tournament, and the NJSIAA Girl's Region Tournament, there is a lot of enthusiasm for the sport. The team will be looking to carry that excitement to the mats, and is working hard to improve on last year's 13-8 record. Good stuff happening in the RB.
